Book a “Ring a Bell” Session with your friends or group at St. John’s
The “Ringing Remembers” WW1 100 years Armistice Campaign is gathering pace. Did you see the recent BBC programme “Midlands Today” of the ringers at Belbroughton? One of their young ringers was saying how much he enjoyed ringing. Nationally almost 1000 new ringers have joined as new recruits. At a recent wedding at Hagley, four of the eight ringers were youngsters, a good £20 each in their pockets for their holiday spending.
Starting in September and prompted by the Heritage Open Days which this year are 6-9 & 13-16 September (see their web-site for full details), Hagley St. John’s tower is being opened to visitors of up to six persons between 10 am & 4pm each day. You can book the times of your visit with me (and not just in September). Come along to a “Ring a Bell” session with up to six of your friends to see and hearhow this quintessentially English sound is created and fills our sound-scape.
If you want to visit bell towers in the evenings try these towers.
