Sunday 2nd October was the first time Alice joined us for her first service ringing at St. John’s morning service. The recent Heritage Open Days had moderate attendance and hopefully some of the new recruits will be joining us for service ringing in the coming months. Here’s what the ringers have to say about why they enjoy having ago
“I enjoy bell ringing as I love music, and the people here are really helpful and friendly”.
Alice
"Bell ringing is completely different from anything else I do. We have a lot of fun in in the tower and everyone in the band is really nice."
“Its very relaxed and there is no pressure to do every practice which makes it easy to fit around other activities”.
Robert
“Bell ringing is fun and it's great to learn a new skill.”
Sam
“I love bell ringing it combines the sense of history with the satisfaction of being on the bells. A great set of people in the tower. How blessed we are. Thank you”.
Pam
“For me I like the tradition & I like the fact I can ring for someone's wedding after people rang for Ian & I when we got married here in June 87”.
Shaz.
“It’s a privilege to be surrounded by others who want to learn and it’s good to know the parishioners appreciate our efforts”.
Richard
“Meeting good friends and keeping a centuries old tradition alive !!! “
Bob
I really enjoy the learning of a new skill and getting things right. A good incentive to stay sober!”.
Denise
“I find that the camaraderie and team spirit are the greatest and most attractive parts of this pastime. It’s not just exercise for the body but also for the mind, plus a lot of tower ringers go for a well-earned pint after practice night”.
Simon
“I thoroughly enjoy learning a new skill in good company. Hagley tower is a very happy place and it’s a pleasure to come”.
Wendy
“We maintain a unique British tradition of church bell ringing with good company amongst friends”.
